Tournament of Strength Brackets/Sign-Up

IC: The toll of bells echo across the vast craterside community of The Pit. The previous warlord Krynsho the Crazed has fallen victim to illness and a new protector and leader must be selected via the time-honored tradition of competitive blood sports. This new Tournament of Strength shall determine the next leader of the Pit's brutal militaristic society for the coming years and thus the course of its imminent future. Already, numerous factions arise led by charismatic demagogues and savage warriors. Some rumors even say that a few of the more thoroughly savage mutants have begun to organize under the strongest and eldest of their bestial kin yet these abhorrent monstrosities have yet to show themselves.

OOC: This is a thread for forum members to enter NPC's for the Tournament of Strength. Characters PL 1-2 are recommended. Characters must be mutants (whether human or not is up to the author of each character). There are currently 8 open slots (10 in total however 2 are already being occupied by Murabi the Rat King and Son-Jun.) so if you are interested in creating a character for "The Pit" act fast. Consider this 'event' as my invitation to all the members of the forum to get active in the mutant community as each member of this tournament is not only an athlete but also a political leader amongst the mutants and thus even after their defeat will continue to be relevant amongst the Pit.

Chibiki, also known as the six-handed samurai, was a human mutant whose chosen career and aberrant traits just so happened to coalign excellently. While initially ineffective at wielding his blades due to his strange anatomy, years of practice and the development of his own custom style has led Chibiki to become one of the most respected and feared mutants in all of Post-War Japan. His hex-wielding technique leaves his opponents hardly any time to think or react as he barrages them with a flurry of lightning fast slashes. While initially believed to be the guaranteed successor to the previous warlord Chibiki left the settlement out of personal reasons but a few days before the tournament was scheduled to begin. In a last-minute effort to fill the spot left by Chibiki the administrators of the ritualistic combat hastily recruited the most savage and gruesome Freak in the Pit. The Rat King's past is shrouded in rumors and deceit as even he cannot fully remember his life before becoming a mutant. The few things that are generally agreed to be true about him is that he was once 'pure' until he came across an artifact from before the War that irrevocably mutated him. Some believe he was once a nobler creature, a human man, but given his savage behavior and animalistic tendencies, the popular opinion is that he was once a mere verminous rodent. The Rat King leads a group of the more savage and alien mutants known as "The Pack". The Pack consists of numerous newly intelligent mutated animals and creatures so thoroughly altered it is almost impossible to discern their original state. These deviant beasts are pariahs among exiles and even the most mutated dregs of humanity look down upon these creatures as another lesser species, more akin to living weapons than anything derived from nature. Son-Jun steps to the sign-up sheet, and shakily writes his name with his left hand, his right arm still in a cast. He glares at the list, and spits to the side. "Your dead if we meet again, rat..," he mutters. Behind him, the remainder of his fans cheer him on. "Son-Jun! Son-Jun! Son-Jun!"

Behind Son-Jun is a man that wears a long green coat, a long scarf, and a brown leather hat, and walks up to the sign-up sheet. He looks Son-Jun up and down, and mutters under his breath, "Fetid slab of fat." He reads the few names on the sheet: Chibiki, Rat King, and Son-Jun. "Hm." He sticks out a gnarled index finger, which ends in a claw, and presses it against the first name. "Rat King. You sound like fun. Do not disappoint me." His stomach rumbles, and he places his hand against it to quiet its complaints. He then raises his finger, then shoves the claw into the folds of his scarf. When it is withdrawn, it is covered with blood, and he begins to write his name upon the sheet: "Crimson".
Heading towards an out-of-the-way alley, he finds an older mutant sitting against the wall, dozing off with a cup at his side that a few coins have been tossed into. He crouches down, and leans forward until his face is only a few inches from the old man. "Wakey, wakey." The old man startles awake, only to be grabbed by the throat, and Crimson puts a finger up to where his mouth would be. A quick squeeze and flick of his hand, and the man's neck is snapped instantly, and is dragged into a dark alley by Crimson. Any who walk by the alley would hear the sound of cracking and the tearing of flesh, and chewing.

Tsuyoi, a scruffy man in his late twenties, with short unkempt hair, and a large indent on the left side of his forehead, As he passes by an alley-way, his nose crinkles, and he turns to Crimson, "Eugh! I hate it when people chew with their mouth open," he remarks as he swaggers towards the sign-ups. As he arrives, he folds his arms with a smirk, "Greetings, freak-shows," he says as he signs his name, "We'll see if there's anything useful under all that rust." As he turns to leave, he takes a deep breath, and rockets into the air in a clear attempt to show off as he flies away. Any who go to sign-up for the tournament after him would notice a small crater left in the concrete from where he took flight from.

A strange creature, a heap of green muck and seaweed slithers to the sign-up sheet. A loud hissing noise emanates from the verdant pile and it raises a tendril, painting the name Kombu sloppily on the paper. The "creature" slithers away into a nearby alley before crawling up a wall of a nearby building and disappearing among the shanty rooftops.

Chiyoko, a girl with long wiry hair that reaches down to her ankles, and strange calloused skin across her body. She has to stand on her tip-toes to sign up. She glances around nervously, and takes a deep breath, muttering to herself, "Challenge greater foes.."

A burly man walks up to the board. His skin is covered in dark scale-like scabbed skin, dark brown in colour. No part of him is free of the scabs- from the top of his bald head, to his dirty, thick-nailed toes. Picking up the charcoal pencil near the list, he writes down his name: Kaiji "Crocodile". He huffs and makes a half smile, then walks away.

Right behind Kaiji is a sickly looking woman, whose skin is an unhealthy grey colour, and appears to be covered in a thin layer of translucent mucus. Her neck appears to be longer than usual, about 1 foot in length, and balloons out to be about just as wide. She coughs and wheezes, before stepping up to the board. Picking up the pencil, she write her name upon the list: Slugger. She replaces the pencil, leaving it covered in slime, then walks towards the waiting room.

A man wearing crimson samurai armor approaches the sign-up sheet. His face is covered with an ebony mask painted with red and yellow paint with various ornate patterns. He delicately lifts the sheet from its resting place and gazes upon it seriously. Ceremoniously he lifts the paper above his head and lets out a great and piercing howl that echoes throughout the hollow crater of the Pit. Numerous other shrieks and cries ripple through the mutant community. The challengers have stepped forth. The "election" has begun in earnest. In three days time, a tournament of strength shall be held that will determine the future Shogun of the Pit.

With the combatants set, the brackets have been made.
